Le Ciel Gourmet Restaurant

The famous gourmet guide "Gault Millau" has awarded the restaurant "Le Ciel" the third toque in his new guide 2008.

The team, among them Restaurant Manager Guenter Moser, Chef de Cuisine Jacqueline Pfeiffer and Sommelier Franz Messeritsch accepted this important award with great delight and enormous pride.

Since the opening of the Grand Hotel Wien the doors of the restaurant "Le Ciel" have been wide open for those who enjoy culinary delights. Siegfried Pucher, Food & Beverage Director of all restaurants and bars of the hotel, and his team make every effort to ensure that this star in the sky of the Austrian culinary heaven continues to rise and for the last 10 years they have maintained the highest levels of quality. Newcomers such as the young and ambitious Sous-Chef Jacqueline Pfeiffer, in charge of cuisine since 2003, bring creative verve to the French orientated culinary art.

This performance has not remained unnoticed by the renowned gourmet guides, very soon after opening "Le Ciel" was awarded with 2 toques by "Gault Millau". These have hovered above the restaurant "In the Sky" ever since.

In February 2005 a further distinction was added. The gourmet guide "Improved Cuisine and Travel in Austria and South Tyrol" voted "Le Ciel" the "Best Restaurant of the Year"!

The restaurant is located on the 7th floor, where the view over the city of Vienna is spectacular. During the summer season meals are also served on our rooftop terrace.

Business Lunch is available on weekdays, and you are free to choose between three and four courses from the daily menu. Should you be pressed for time, the entire Business Lunch will be served within an hour. LCiel also organizes specialty weeks and wine tasting according to the season. Gift certificates available.

The Grand Café Restaurant

Grand Café will spoil you with Viennese specialities and traditional home-made Austrian pastries, as well as international dishes. On Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays a champagne breakfast will be served.

The Grand Café also features our famous Guglhupf, a special breakfast sponge cake, prepared according to our own secret recipe. This can also be taken home in a decorative gift package, or posted throughout the world as a special gift. It is available in two sizes.

The Grand Café is located on the 1st floor, which allows a fine view down the Ringstrasse, as well as direct access to the adjacent Shopping Mall.

Unkai Japanese Restaurant

The Japanese restaurant Unkai offers a fascinating variety of japanese specialities. Sushi and Sashimi are served perfectly in the traditional manner, and Teppanyaki dishes are perpared in front of guests. These dishes have been awarded 'two toques' by leading restaurant guide 'Gault Milau' and they have also received the 'Trophee Gourmet' for ethnic cuisine.

Two Tatami rooms with original decor and two European-sytle guest rooms are available for private functions. On weekends and holidays we offer our famous Sushi Buffet.

Unkai Sushi

The "Unkai Sushi" is a traditional sushi bar. It offers the best sushi and sashimi in town - an equal extension of the famous Japanese luxury restaurant "Unkai" on the 7th floor of the Grand Hotel Wien. Unkai Sushi is offering the same high quality, but a smaller menu with focus on sushi and sashimi, in a modern ambience and with quick service. That makes it a good location for a fast lunch, too.

On the wine menu you will find white and red wines from the vineyard Salomon. The wines come from the Austrian region Wachau and from Australia. They were tasted and chosen with the owner Berthold Salomon in order to offer those wines, which accompany the dishes best. As the only restaurant in Austria, Unkai Sushi serves Asahi-Bier on tap. For those who prefer the traditional Japanese way, an enormous number of different sake is offered. The Japanese staff is very friendly.
