Algarve's First Golf Course

Set in 360 acres of majestic Portuguese gardens, the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course is responsible for introducing golf to the Algarve. Conceived as the brainchild of UK golf legend, Sir Henry Cotton, the course was hewn out of rice paddies and scrubland, and sculpted into Portugal’s first ever golf course. The planting of thousands of trees, flora and greenery – which has taken decades to mature – makes this one of the most beautiful courses to be found anywhere in Europe.
